I just don't have any digging time, but it would be cool if the people here who are good at digging would occasionally take Lush's Sept. 3, 2005, diary "Biological Weapons in New Orleans?" out of the cold case file and work on it.
In that diary, Lush summarized a WWL TV Webcast featuring an FBI agent who implied that drug dealers had carjacked something that could wipe out the whole Southeastern United States right after Katrina, and that the effort to find that drug dealers had led to some of the paralysis in the effort to deal with Katrina.
I think that this is a really interesting drama in its own right. It might help explain some of the bizarre delays in the relief effort, and it reveal things we ought to know about shortcomings in lab handling of hazardous materials. Also: given that the only known mention of this FBI press conference came from the Lush diary, how do we actually know that the FBI found the carjackers and whatever it was that they carjacked?
